Women In Ag Two Part Series

United States Department of Agriculture

Women who own farmland and/or farm in Mahaska and Marion Counties are invited to join their Women, Land & Legacy (WLL) team for a 2-Part Learning Session about Planning for the Future – Succession & Estate Planning. These Learning Sessions are an opportunity for women who are engaged in agriculture and land management to be engaged and learn more about the importance of getting farm and family affairs in order, focusing on questions to ask and mistakes to avoid. Women are highly encouraged to attend BOTH sessions. This was a topic of importance suggested by local women in Mahaska & Marion counties during Listening Sessions held in November 2017.

WLL is a unique USDA state-wide program, currently active in 29 counties, providing locally-led education and outreach, as well as networking opportunities, particularly for women landowners and farmers in Iowa. In an agricultural climate where nearly 50% of land in Iowa is owned or co-owned by women, programming that educates and empowers female landowners and farmers is a crucial need for the future of Iowa farms.

This event is free and open to the public, women are strongly encouraged to attend.
