Wilma was born on August 19, 1926, in Guernsey, Iowa to William and Caroline Keller Burke. She was raised in Guernsey and graduated with the Class of 1944 from Guernsey High School. On January 6, 1946, she was married to Herbert Neuhaus at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Victor. The couple made their home in Victor and she was a homemaker and mother of four children. She was also a substitute mail carrier and worked as a bookkeeper for S.I.P. Lumber Company of Victor for over 25 years.
Wilma was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Victor and she was active in the ladies aide of the church. She was also past treasurer of the women’s golf league, the Sweet Adelines, the Victor American Legion Auxiliary, Iowa County Historical Society and was a volunteer for the Victor Congregate Meals. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing dominos, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Michael) Light of Des Moines, Larry (Teri) Neuhaus of Hartwick, Lyle (Barbara) Neuhaus of Victor and Lynn Neuhaus of Victor; six grandchildren, Michele, Matt and John Light, and Niki Hakes, Carrie and Ryan Neuhaus; one great grandson, Marcus Light; one brother, Harlan Burke of Guernsey; and two sisters, Lucille Schultz of Stanwood, Iowa and Donnabelle Rinehart of Victor.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
