Update From the House for District 80 – January 30, 2020

Hello friends,

Week three is in the books! We accomplished a lot this week and I am eager to share it all with you. As usual, it was an incredibly busy week but a very good one.

Monday was Rural Water Day at the Capitol, and I got to visit with the folks from Rathbun Water Association, always great to talk with them and get the update. I even got a picture with Elsa and Anna! My daughter Harbor was so excited to see pictures of Mommy with the Frozen characters.

On Thursday, I was honored to chair three subcommittees discussing bills very close to home for District 80. We are working on legislation I call Reuben’s Rules for the Van Veldhuizen family, who tragically lost their son Reuben a few years ago. You can read more of their story here: https://iowacapitaldispatch.com/2020/01/30/tears-mix-with-policy-in-iowa-house/

Scott, Sandy, Noah, and Lydia Van Veldhuizen joined us at the Capitol for the subcommittee meetings.

I am continuing to enjoy my leadership and committee roles, it is such a privilege and honor to represent you in the House. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. Thanks all!
