1987: A winter storm affected the southeastern half of Iowa from late on January 8th into the morning of the 10th. Snowfall accumulations were generally only in the 2 to 5 inch range, but it was the first significant snowfall of the winter in southeastern Iowa and caused widespread traffic problems and a high number of car accidents with dozens of injuries. Reported storm total accumulations ranged up to 5.0 inches at Bloomfield and Keosauqua, 5.5 inches at Keokuk, and 6.0 inches at Oskaloosa.
