Third Annual Floyd White Memorial Golf Tournament
Golfers in the Third Annual Floyd White Memorial Golf Tournament swing their clubs in a 9:00 a.m. Shotgun Start on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. Sponsored by the Mahaska County Agency on Aging (MCAA), the memorial tournament honors the late Floyd White, who was an avid golfer. His wife, Margaret, served on the MCAA board for 28 years as the treasurer. All proceeds from the tournament go to MCAA to help retire the mortgage on the Senior Center relocation and renovation at 715 B Avenue East.
A new feature of this year’s tournament is a Hole-in-One Prize of $500, provided by an anonymous donor. As in the past, there will be additional prizes and awards for different feats of golfing excellence. Trophies have also been donated.
In addition to his love of golf, Floyd was an artist, crafting beautiful stained glass creations. His stained-glass replica of the Oskaloosa Bandstand can be found on display in the public library.
Golfers young and old are invited to this year’s tournament, a 4-Person Best Position format, which is limited to 34 teams of four. The entry fee is $50 per person. To register, contact Matt Sherlock at 641-673-5120.
Organizers are still recruiting sponsors and prize donors. Among the prize donors are Hunters, The Antique Peddler, Malcom Lumber, Hy Vee, Sherwin Williams, and The Book Vault.

The MCAA operates and maintains the Senior Center, and provides both home-delivered meals and congregate meals at the site, supporting the county’s senior population as residents age in place.
