Tenco Receives Donation of a Car

On Tuesday, a car was gifted to Tenco by a local benefactor, Kay Graham. The car will join the fleet of vehicles serving Tenco’s staff and clients. The 2002 Toyota Camry will be assigned to assist the residential services in providing access to grocery shopping, medical and dental appointments, parks, restaurants, and events.

Graham lives in Keswick, Iowa and recently upgraded her own vehicle and wanted her old one to go to a good cause. “Take care of my baby,” she commented as she handed the keys to the Tenco staff. Kay took a tour of Tenco’s Ottumwa location and was impressed by all the services offered there.

Thanks to Tenco’s friends and supporters, we have been able to continue to meet the needs of our clients. Executive Director Cheryl Plank commented, “We are so fortunate to have such great friends and supporters who are willing to support our mission. It is important for our folks to be active participants in the community.”

Tenco serves over 315 people with disabilities throughout its seven county area. Tenco is in its 52nd year in serving individuals with special needs. Tenco operates vocational programs in Centerville, Fairfield, and Ottumwa; Adult Day Habilitation services in Centerville, Fairfield, and Ottumwa; and residential services in Centerville, Keosauqua, Fairfield, Knoxville, Ottumwa, and Oskaloosa. Tenco also manages a Transition Home in Fairfield and Residential Care Facilities in Keosauqua and Knoxville. In addition, a return to Chariton is planned; Tenco will be certified to provide Pre-Vocational, residential and Adult Day Habilitation services for people with disabilities, and Pre-Vocational services in Chariton began at the first of the year.
