Sweet Corn Serenade Just Scheduled For July 25th

One of Mahaska County’s favorite celebrations is right around the corner! Sweet Corn Serenade is set for Thursday, July 25th in downtown Oskaloosa.

This year’s festivities include pop-up boutique shopping, a craft and vendors show, food trucks, burgers and sweet corn, the Farm Bureau Agriculture exhibit, tons of fun family activities, a kids’ pedal pull, live music, and a performance by the Red Rock Threshers.

The pop-up shopping boutique inside the McMillan building (formerly Swim’s, 208 1st Avenue East) starts at 10 AM and is open until 8 PM. Vendors in the park will be open from 12-9 PM.

Food vendors including Grubby’s Kettle Korn, Barnyard Tenderloin, Wanderlunch, and Sno-Biz will be open 12-9 PM. At 4 PM, the Mahaska County Cattleman will be serving up beef burgers to go along with the delicious sweet corn! Pie and ice cream will be for sale on the east side of the square near the information booth.

From 4 – 9 PM, Farm Bureau will be hosting their agriculture exhibit north of the square, featuring the corn pit, horse rides, petting zoo, face painting, and more! Community First Credit Union will be giving free train rides on High Avenue, northeast of the square, and the YMCA will have activities for children in the park.

The pedal pull, sponsored by McKim Tractor and DuraCrop, takes place south of the square and will begin at 6 PM. The pedal pull competition is open for children ages 4-11. Children under 4 can pull for fun. Registration is open from 5:30-6 PM.

At 5:30 PM, Marshall County Hangmen will kick off the live music. At 8 PM, the Oskaloosa City Band Concert will finish off the night.
