(Oskaloosa, Iowa) — Infants and adults alike were welcomed at the 2018 Summer Reading Kickoff held on Monday, June 4 at the Oskaloosa Public Library. The reading garden outside was full and the food line was long as an estimated over 300 people showed up at various times to take part in the event.

Food, fun, and reading were all on the agenda and local business Sno-Biz was present to cool things down as many braved the hot temps to take part. Many families rode their bikes and found a cool place in the shade to review the summer schedule for the library.

On Tuesday, children grades K-2nd were welcomed for a book reading and games relating to sounds of different animals. The action continued on Wednesday, June 5 with the classic movie Marie Poppins.

There are a number of summer events on the horizon for the Oskaloosa Public Library. The Oskaloosa Police Department will be special guests on Wednesday, June 13 at 2:00 P.M. to give a safety talk geared toward grades K-5 and on Tuesday, June 26, the Hanson Family Jugglers will put on a show. The world record setters will present storytelling, juggling, and unicycling from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. at the library.
