Shari Suzanne Van Engelenhoven
January 4, 1969 – January 18, 2023
Mooresville, North Carolina (Oskaloosa, IA) | Age 54
Shari Ewing Van Engelenhoven passed away Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at her home in Mooresville, NC, at the age of 54.
Shari Van Engelenhoven, daughter of Fleeta and Emmet Ewing, was born on January 4th, 1969, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Shari graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1987. She furthered her education at the University of Northern Iowa before transferring to Saint Ambrose University to be closer to her future husband. She graduated in 1992 from Saint Ambrose with a Bachelor’s in Accounting.
After ten loving years together, Richard and Shari Van Engelenhoven got married in 1997 on a romantic trip to Jamaica.
After college, Shari worked in accounting until her first two children were born in 2000; it broke her heart not to be with her kids, so she chose to stay home until they were older.
In 2007 she moved with her family to Perrysburg, OH, and in 2014 she started working at The Andersons, a publicly traded agribusiness. In 2015, she moved to Union, KY, where she started a new position at Robbins Kelly Patterson & Tucker Law Firm. Then Shari and her family had one last move to Mooresville, North Carolina.
Shari was loved by all who knew her, she had a contagious laugh and was a kid at heart. It was an ongoing joke in her family that just because Shari laughed at your joke, it didn’t quite mean other people would find it funny because she was simply always laughing and radiated joy to those around her.
Shari always had a love for beaches and warm, tropical weather. She frequently vacationed in tropical areas like Florida, Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. She loved to be outdoors and spent much of her time at beaches and pools with her kids and boating with her family.
Shari was an incredible mom to her three children, Carter, Paige, and Emma, with whom she loved sharing her favorite things, like going to the zoo, palm trees, flamingos, and rainbows.
Shari had a strong faith and belief in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved her immediate and extended family and will be missed by all of them. Shari was full of life and brought positivity with her everywhere she went. So many people loved her, and we are all so lucky to have been loved by her. Please hold her close, as we do, in your mind and spirit.
Her family includes her husband, Rick; son, Carter; and two daughters, Paige and Emma. She is survived by her parents, Emmett and Fleeta Ewing; mother and father-in-law, Arvin and Dena Van Engelenhoven; brothers and sisters-in-law: Scott (& Jill) Ewing and Greg (& Diane) Ewing; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kevin (& Jessica) Van Engelenhoven and Scott (& Tina) Van Engelenhoven; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services for Shari will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 23rd, 2023, at Central Church, with Rev. John Nelson officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Langkamp Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
