Scouts recognized for achievements

On August 27, Boy Scout Troop 71, chartered by the Central United Methodist Church, held their fall Court of Honor to recognize their Scouts’ achievements and rank advancements.

At this Court of Honor, 16 Scouts were collectively awarded 69 merit badges and 4 National Outdoor Badges, while 3 Scouts were recognized for rank advancements. Scouts recognized for rank advancement were Boston Barnhart for 2nd Class rank, Brody Barnhart for 1st Class Rank, and Raymond Franzen for Star Scout rank.

Merit Badges range from Art to Auto Maintenance, Shotgun Shooting to Indian Lore, Family Life to Kayaking, and Lifesaving to Geology. There are over 135 merit badges for Scouts to choose from. Scouts being awarded merit badges were Caleb Atchinson, Boston Barnhart, Brody Barnhart, Taylor Drost, Raymond Franzen, Hayden George, Spencer Held, Brett Ingamells, William Leonard, North Lindell, Elliot Nelson, Zachary Noel, Elijah Pearce, Maxwell Pearce, Lucas Phillips, and Gareth Stefanc.

Troop 71 is led by Senior Patrol Leader Hayden George and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader William Leonard, with oversight from Scoutmaster Kevin Hladik.
