School Supply Sculputure Contest Continues

United Way of Mahaska County and Penn Central Mall are hosting a School Supply Sculpture Contest. Each entry receives a standard set of school supplies to help construct their creation. After the sculptures are adjudicated, all the school supplies will go to the Back-to-School Fair.

Registration: $50 – Includes:
– Set of school supplies for sculpting
– Designated sculpture station in Penn Central Mall with signage recognizing team
– Photo posts on Penn Central Mall and United Way of Mahaska County Facebook pages showcasing team’s sculpture
– Transport of supplies to United Way at the end of the competition

Registration Deadline: Teams must be registered by Noon on Friday, July 19th to participate.

Setup: Setup days will be on Monday, July 22nd, and Tuesday, July 23rd. Sculptors are welcome to come at any convenient time between 9 AM and 8 PM on both days. Sculptors are not limited in the number of times they can work on the sculpture during setup times.

Sculptors: Teams are encouraged to build their sculptures. However, if a group would like to support the cause, but is unable to make the sculpture, several artists with FACE of Mahaska County are available to assist in sculpting. Artists are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first serve basis

Sculpting Deadline: All sculptures must be completed by 8 PM on Tuesday, July 23rd

Supplies: The supply list will be available to participants on Tuesday, July 16th

Judging/Display: Judging will be open to the public from Wednesday, July 24th through Wednesday, July 31st. Winners will be announced at 5:30 PM on July 31st in Center Court.
Prize: Winners will receive a plaque honoring the achievement and will include publicity on social media.
