Sally Jack Tucker Allee
Sally Jack Tucker Allee of Oskaloosa, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024, at The Bridges of Ankeny while under the care of Suncrest Hospice. As her earthly body took its last breath, her soul and spirit entered Heaven.Sally was born May 13,1936 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Gail Norris Tucker and Ardis Marion Tucker. She was married to Dale Allee on January 19,1953. Sally had a diverse and fulfilling life! From working at Dean’s Cigar Store, to helping manage service stations with her husband, and then providing loving childcare for her grandchildren, she certainly wore many hats. Her twenty years of employment at the Hy-Vee Bakery also demonstrates her dedication and hard work throughout her lifetime. It is inspiring to see someone who has had such varied experiences and contributed in different roles over the years.
Sally had a rich and joyful life filled with diverse interests and deep love for her family. Her enjoyment of reading, music, dancing, gardening, and traveling shows a lively and adventurous spirit. She created small quilts and “sock monkeys” for her grandchildren who affectionately called her Gma Sally. She also volunteered at Mahaska Hospital and the Oskaloosa Public Library.
Sally and Dale were married 60 years and raised six children: Randy Allee of San Jose, CA, Sharee (Jay) Walter, Benton, AR, Karen Smith of Polk City, IA, Jack Allee of Tigard, OR Marsha (Brad) Van Dusseldorp, Pella, IA and Ernest (Vonda) Allee of Oskaloosa, IA. Their extended family includes nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Chad) Albaugh, Amanda Schroder, Jacob (Michelle) Allee, Melissa Van Dusseldorp, Ezra
(Danielle) Allee, Reggie (Joebe) Smith, Lindsey (Casey) Mathes, Emily Allee and Jackson Allee; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. Also, many nieces and nephews including Phil Laud, Janet and Doug Long; several great nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Rae Tucker.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; a granddaughter, Kelsey Jo Smith; son-in-law, Tom Smith; a great grandson, Blake Schroder; a brother, Tommy Tucker; and a sister, Joyce “Dody” Laud.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:30 am at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with Pastor Steve Howe officiating. According to Sally’s wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes combined with those of her husband along with the ashes of Mother Sally’s favorite cat, FeeFee. Memorials may be made to Suncrest Hospice of West Des Moines. No graveside services will be held.
