Reseeding Pollinator Plot On Earth Day

On Earth Day (Friday April 22nd) members of the Oskaloosa High School Pheasants Forever and FFA Chapters took part in a reseeding of a Pollinator Plot on the Oskaloosa FFA’s School Farm. The plot was put in last spring by students in the Science and Agricultural classes and was funded through a grant by Pheasants Forever. Students in the Plant Production Class mixed different Native Plant Species Seeds with soil and wood shavings to help extend the seeding mix and then members of the Oskaloosa Pheasants Forever and FFA spread the seed in the Pollinator Plot. The purpose of the plot is to establish a native prairie for pollinating insects such as butterflies and bees to flourish and as a wildlife refuge.
