OSKALOOSA, Iowa— Rebekka Hartwig of What Cheer, IA, a Senior at William Penn University, has been selected as a UPS Scholar and recipient of a $2,750 scholarship through the Iowa College Foundation, an organization which raises funds for its 23 member independent colleges in Iowa.

The Iowa College Foundation is a statewide association for private colleges and universities that is affiliated with the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC). At the national level, CIC teams up with the UPS Foundation to distribute funding of the UPS Scholarship. This year, CIC awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships from its UPS Educational Endowment Fund to private institutions of higher learning across the nation, including a grant of $63,250 to the Iowa College Foundation. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of the students’ academic achievement and financial need.

“The Council of Independent Colleges is proud to support the Iowa College Foundation and its member colleges through the CIC/UPS Scholarships Grant Program,” said Richard Ekman, president of the Council of Independent Colleges. “Designed to make private colleges more affordable and accessible, the scholarships will assist 551 low-income, first generation, minority, and new American students nationwide.”
