Pella Christian Edges Oskaloosa

by Jodi Steinlage

The girls’ soccer team was part of a great soccer game last night against Pella Christian, but unfortunately was on the wrong end of a 1-0 game. For fans of soccer, the game was an exciting game with both teams playing a pretty evenly matched soccer game. The loss would end the Indians regular season with a record of 7-9.

The Indians would end the night with twice as many shots as the Crusaders, but none of those shots would find the back of the net for the girls. Pella Christian would score the only goal of the night 10 minutes in to the 2nd half.

“The defense did a really good job in limiting scoring opportunities. PC got a good look for outside and were able to a very good shot.”

“We were very happy with how the girls came out and competed and played another 80 minutes of soccer. Obviously we wanted to win this game, but it was a fun game to watch and be a part of. The girls have really started to play some good soccer the last 3 games and now we just need to capitalize on our opportunities around the goal.”

The Indians begin regional play against Grinnell tomorrow night at 6 p.m. The girls will be at home and would love to see a huge crowd as they begin their post season march.

Stats:

Aleeya Cheney: 7 shots (3 on goal)
Kinsey Cook: 4 shots (2 on goal)
Kirby Nelson: 3 shots (2 on goal)
Emily Lunsford: 2 shots (1 on goal)
Mac McCallum: 1 shot (1 on goal)
Mary Nelson: 3 shots (2 on goal)

Maddy Crile: 5 saves
