Paula Kennedy Comstock, 59, of Leighton, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Paula Denise Sysel was born on May 12, 1964, to Kenneth Eugene and Jeanie Faye (Oldnettle) Kennedy in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Paula’s family moved to Beacon, where she was raised, and she was a 1983 graduate of Oskaloosa High School.

Paula used her gifts of being a hard worker and her love of people by being a bartender and waitress throughout her career.

Paula found peace by spending time with loved ones in nature. She was an avid fisherwoman and mushroom hunter. Camping, gardening, cooking, and simply being outdoors with her family held some of her most treasured memories and experiences.

Paula’s family includes her husband, Allen Comstock of Lanphier Landing; her daughter, Megan Harris of Oskaloosa; and her son, Shawn Harris of Lanphier Landing. Her family also includes her parents, Kenneth Jr. and Sadie Kennedy of Oskaloosa; brother, Shawn Kennedy of Lanphier Landing; sister, Melanie (& Jeff) Tresslar of Missouri; step-sisters: Kathy Hugen of What Cheer, Laura Anderson of Oskaloosa, Kim Hayes of Oskaloosa, Cindy Turner of Des Moines; four grandchildren: Hayden, Kaleb, and Kyleigh Carmer, and Jerimiah Woodson; as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanie; her sister, Kathy Showers; and an aunt, Marilyn Geery.

As was her wish, Paula’s body has been cremated, and there will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Langkamp Funeral Chapel and Crematory have been entrusted with Paula’s arrangements.
