Osky split in a double header with Norwalk on Friday. Here’s a recap of the games:

Game 1
Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday, but Oskaloosa Varsity Indians defeated Norwalk Varsity 3-1. Linus Morrison started the game for the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians and recorded 17 outs.

Morrison struck out 10 batters on the day. The hurler also allowed two hits and one run over five and two-thirds innings while walking two.

Norwalk Varsity was the first to get on the board in the third when Wardlow singled, scoring one run.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians made the score 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth after Ty Edgar hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Maddux Ashman singled, scoring two runs.

Wardlow took the loss for Norwalk Varsity. The pitcher went six innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out three, and walking one. Edgar collected the save.

Ashman led the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Griffin Snitker, Trey Parks, and Ashman each collected one hit for Oskaloosa

Game 2
Friday’s game against Norwalk Varsity was a heartbreaker for the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians, as they lost the lead late in a 2-0 defeat. The game was tied at zero in the top of the ninth when Benschoter laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Norwalk pitchers struck out 11, while the Indians sat down 12.

Benschoter earned the win for Norwalk Varsity. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking one. Ty Edgar took the loss for the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The pitcher went three and one-third innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking one. Jaden DeRonde began the game for the Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three.

Linus Morrison, Jake North, and Trey Parks each collected one hit for Oskaloosa
