OSKALOOSA GIRLS TRACK TAKES THIRD, SETS RECORDS AT EAST MARSHALL
EAST MARSHALL — The Oskaloosa girls track and field team turned in another strong performance Thursday, April 16, finishing third out of 13 teams at the East Marshall meet.
It was a near perfect night for competition, and the Indians took advantage with strong efforts across the board and several standout performances.
The highlight of the night came from the sprint medley relay team of Monica Hundley, Alyssa Sheets, Delaney Harbour, and Tierney Carter. The group set a new meet and track record with a time of 1:52.24.
Tierney Carter added another big moment later in the meet. She broke her own meet and track record in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 57.73. That time could qualify her for the Drake Relays.
Oskaloosa also picked up strong finishes in other events. Delaney Harbour placed second in the long jump and added a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Carter also earned a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
Several relay teams continued to improve. The 4×800, 4×400, 4×200, and the throwers 4×100 relay teams all set new season-best marks. All four runners on the 4×400 relay also recorded new personal records.
In total, the team finished the night with 10 new personal records, showing continued progress as the season moves forward.
The coaching staff said they are impressed with how the team continues to step up, with athletes filling key roles in both relay and individual events to help the team succeed.
Oskaloosa will return to action Monday, April 20, when they travel to Bondurant-Farrar.
