Oskaloosa girls golf takes third at Washington Invitational

WASHINGTON — The Oskaloosa girls golf team continued to show signs of improvement Monday at the Washington Invitational, finishing third out of six teams with a score of 413 on a beautiful day for golf.

Lisbon won the tournament with a 335, while Highland finished second at 374. Oskaloosa edged out Washington, which shot a 422.

Even though the scores were not exactly where the team wanted them yet, coaches said the girls are getting close to putting everything together. The Indians played solid golf overall, but a few holes kept the scores from dropping even lower.

Leah Cohrt once again led the way for Oskaloosa. She shot a 95 and finished 10th overall individually in the tournament.

Hayden McCain added a 100 for the Indians, while Rian Allman carded a 103. Sabrina Frost finished with a 115, Ireland McGraw shot a 117, and Paige VanderMeiden added a 119.

The Indians continue to improve as the season moves toward the postseason, and coaches believe the team is close to a breakthrough round if they can put together a more consistent 18 holes.
