OSKALOOSA BOYS TRACK SETS 27 PERSONAL RECORDS AT FAIRFIELD RELAYS
FAIRFIELD — The Oskaloosa boys track and field team pushed through a long night Tuesday at the Fairfield Trojan Relays, overcoming a one-hour weather delay and turning in a strong performance with 27 new personal records and five season-best marks.
Grady Kennedy led the Indians with a second-place finish in the discus, recording a throw of 124 feet, 2 inches. Lane Smith added a third-place finish in the 1600-meter run, crossing the line in 4:59.72.
Oskaloosa also saw solid results in the relay events. The 4×100 team of Carter Jordan, Kolby Williams, Oscar Chambers, and Jamison Ruby placed fourth with a time of 47.68 seconds. The 4×200 relay team of Jamison Ruby, Aiden Cox, Kolby Williams, and Carter Jordan finished eighth.
In the field events, Brock Beerbower placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 4.5 inches. Jonah DeVore added a seventh-place finish in the same event.
The 4×800 relay team of Lane Smith, Sam Nelson, Silas Johnston, and Micah Van Ee placed seventh. The distance medley relay team also earned a seventh-place finish.
As a team, Oskaloosa finished 10th overall in the standings.
Despite the weather delay and tough competition, the Indians showed steady improvement across the board. The 27 personal records and five season-best marks highlight the team’s progress early in the season.
