OSKALOOSA BOYS TENNIS OPENS SEASON WITH HARD-FOUGHT WIN

Oskaloosa, Iowa — The Oskaloosa boys tennis team opened its season Monday with a triangular meet, earning a close win over Knoxville in their first competition of the year.
The varsity match was tight from the start. After singles play, the two teams were tied, each winning three of the six matches. Oskaloosa got singles wins from Mason Muir, Holden Braundmeier, and Reuban Chilcote.
With the match on the line, it came down to doubles play. Oskaloosa needed to win at least two of the three doubles matches to secure the team victory. The players delivered under pressure.
At No. 1 doubles, Mason Muir and Holden Braundmeier earned a strong 8-3 win. At No. 2 doubles, Ethan Stek and Reuban Chilcote followed with an 8-2 victory, clinching the match for Oskaloosa.
The win gives the team a strong start to the season and helps build early confidence.
The junior varsity team also had a successful day, picking up a win over Knoxville.
In doubles play, Wyatt DeCook and Sully Boender won 6-4. Liam Dykstra and Tate Riggs added a 6-0 victory. Dykstra also teamed with Max Six for a 6-1 win. DeCook and Riggs combined for another doubles win, 6-2.
In singles matches, Liam Dykstra, Wyatt DeCook, Tate Riggs, and Max Six each picked up wins for the JV squad.
