OSKALOOSA BOYS TENNIS FALLS TO NEWTON IN CLOSE MATCH
OSKALOOSA — The Oskaloosa boys tennis team competed against Newton on Tuesday, falling 9-2 in a match that was closer than the final score showed.
Oskaloosa dropped three singles matches in tiebreakers, which made a big difference in the overall result. If those matches had gone the other way, the team score could have been much tighter at 6-5 instead of 9-2.
Despite the loss, the Indians showed strong effort against a solid Newton team. The players stayed competitive throughout the match and continued to improve.
Oskaloosa picked up two wins in doubles play. Ethan Stek and Reuban Chilcote earned a strong win at No. 2 varsity doubles. Liam Dykstra and Tate Riggs added another victory at No. 5 doubles.
The coaching staff said they are encouraged by the progress the team is making with each match. The players continue to compete hard and are showing improvement as the season moves forward.
