Oskaloosa Boys Tennis Falls to Conference-Leading Pella, Earns Doubles Win
Pella, Iowa — The Oskaloosa boys tennis team hit the road Wednesday for a rain makeup match against Little Hawkeye Conference powerhouse Pella, ultimately falling 10–1 to the Dutchmen. While the score leaned heavily in Pella’s favor, the Indians delivered gritty performances and gained valuable experience competing against one of the conference’s top teams.
The highlight of the day came at #1 varsity doubles, where Ethan Stek and Mason Muir combined for Oskaloosa’s lone victory. The pair played with purpose and aggression, defeating Pella’s top doubles team 6–1, 6–2. Their win provided a bright spot in an otherwise challenging match and underscored the duo’s growing chemistry.
Muir also turned in one of the day’s most competitive singles matches, dropping two close sets 6–4, 6–3 to Corbin Van Dyke at #3 singles. His continued consistency and resilience have made him a key contributor in both singles and doubles play.
Other varsity competitors included Cooper Rupprecht, Holden Braundmeier, Jaxon Saville, and Ian Fay, each of whom faced tough opponents in straight-set losses but competed hard throughout. As the postseason nears, these matches against top-tier programs like Pella help sharpen focus and highlight areas for improvement.
