Oskaloosa boys golf battles tough course at Blue Top Ridge

RIVERSIDE — The Oskaloosa boys golf team faced another challenging test this week, competing at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in near perfect weather conditions.

Even with the nice day, the course proved difficult. Coaches said the Indians continue to show improvement, but a few big holes throughout the round kept scores higher than they wanted. Blue Top Ridge is known as a tough course, and avoiding big numbers was a challenge for many teams.

Freshman Collin Netland led Oskaloosa with an 83 in his first time playing the course. Marshall Seibert finished just behind him, while Cael Ashman also turned in a solid round. John Coniglio added another good score for the Indians.

The team continues to show signs of progress as the postseason gets closer, but consistency remains the biggest focus moving forward.

Oskaloosa now enters a busy stretch with three tournaments over the next nine days. Coaches said practice time will be important as the team works to tighten up a few areas before postseason play begins.
