Oskaloosa Baseball Finishes Week 6-0 With Win Over Pella

OSKALOOSA — Oskaloosa finished a perfect 6-0 week with an 8-3 win over Pella on Friday.

Oskaloosa used timely hitting, strong pitching and aggressive base running to erase an early two-run deficit.

Trey Parks gave the Indians an early lead in the top of the first inning when he hit a solo home run to left field.

Pella answered in the bottom of the inning, as Zach Dobson doubled to score two runs and give the Dutch a 2-1 lead.

Pella added another run in the second inning when Grant Hauser singled, making the score 3-1.

The Indians tied the game in the third inning, with Ty Edgar driving in a run on a groundout and Colin Johnson following with a run-scoring single.

The Indians took the lead for good in the fourth inning when Jake North singled to make it 5-3.

Edgar earned the win on the mound for Oskaloosa by pitching all seven innings, allowing four hits and three runs. None of Pella’s runs were earned. He struck out eight batters and walked one.

North led Oskaloosa with three RBIs and went 2-for-5 at the plate. Cael Ashman, who batted seventh in the lineup, led the team with three hits in four at-bats.

Linus Morrison, Carter Bonnet and Ashman combined for four of Oskaloosa’s eight hits, and the Indians also showed patience at the plate by drawing seven walks.
