NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart Injured In Southern Iowa Speedway Accident
Oskaloosa, Iowa – NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart was leading the Front Row Challenge Monday, possibly to once again reclaim victory in Oskaloosa, this time in something a bit faster than a go-cart.
“I won my first big go-cart race here back in 1983, so this is a place I’ve always known where it’s at and how to get to it,” Stewart said in an Oskaloosa News interview before the race.
Kyle Larson who finished second in the nights race said he didn’t see how the crash happened. “I just saw cars going everywhere and I ducked to the infield to miss it. It was pretty wild and I just hope Tony’s OK.”
Brian Brown brought home the trophy, but his thoughts immediately focused on Stewart, “I’m not sure how Tony’s doing. He’s a huge asset to our sport.” Brown continued by saying you never want to see anyone get hurt, “I just hope he’s going to be OK, that’s my main concern. We weren’t going to win that race.”
Stewart was loaded into an ambulance at the track and then transported to an area hospital.
