Missoula Children’s Theatre Auditions for “Rapunzel”
OSKALOOSA, IA — Calling all kids! Auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of Rapunzel will be on Monday, January 12th at the George Daily Auditorium at 4 p.m. Rapunzel takes you on a frivolous frolic through the French countryside. Frenchy and his intense friends the Wood Elves, along with the Lost Prince and Rapunzel’s parents, do their best to help Rapunzel escape the grasp of Madame Gothel. Just when you think it’s safe to cross the bridge, a Troll and Three Billy Goats Gruff get in the way. It doesn’t help that the Three Bears confuse Rapunzel with Goldilocks and chase her through the forest. Add to that the Gremlins trying to play tricks on everyone and you have chaos!
The directors come to town with lights, sets, props, makeup – everything needed for a show except the actors! Approximately 60 students in kindergarten through 12th grade are needed to fill all the roles. Students wishing to audition should stay the entire two-hour session. Audition forms are available in schools, at the George Daily Auditorium, online at www.georgedaily.org, or in the lobby before the audition. This is a group audition so no preparation is required. Students should come with a smile and be ready to have fun!
In just a week, students will learn their lines and choreography for two performances on Saturday, January 17th. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the end of the audition. Rehearsals will be conducted Tuesday, January 13th through Friday, January 16th at the George Daily. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role.
Performances of Rapunzel are Saturday, January 17th at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students. For tickets or more information, contact the George Daily Auditorium box office at (641) 672-0799 or online at www.georgedaily.org.
This opportunity is made possible by the sponsorship of MidWestOne Bank and the Kiwanis Club of Oskaloosa.
