Michael Sinclair Thom, age 83, of Fremont, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at his home in Fremont under hospice care. He was born on March 16, 1940, in Burma, Asia, the son of William and Daw-Ohn-Tin Thom. He attended Catholic High School in Burma. On 5/16/1963 he was united in marriage to Mahlayee Thom. To this union a son was born, Rocky.
Michael worked at John Deere as a welder and retired after 30 years. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical and could work on and fix almost anything.
He is survived by his wife, Mahlayee “Mala” Thom of Fremont; a son, Rocky (Kayla) Thom; his grandchildren, Ashlyn Thom, Bailey (Seth) Anderson and Conner (Kenzie) Thom, sister Sheila and brother, Patrick.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dawn and his brother, David.
A simple graveside service will be held on March 23, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick.
