MCG bringing wireless Internet to rural Mahaska County

Mahaska Communications Group

Mahaska Communication Group (MCG) is building a wireless Internet network to serve rural residents of Mahaska County, according to Frank Hansen, MCG General Manager. The network of wireless towers is being built in stages. Some of the towers have been turned on now, and others will be coming in the months to come.

“We know it is frustrating to not have the services you want and need. When we saw the lack of good Internet services for customers in rural Mahaska county, we decided to do something about it. We really understand the issue of not having the services you need, in fact that was the reason we formed MCG in the first place in 2000.”

MCG is offering 20Mb Internet to customers with a wireless Internet product. You can learn more at www.mahaska.org/wireless-internet.

“If you are interested in wireless Internet from MCG, please call our office or visit our website,” said Steve Burnett, MCG’s Sales and Marketing Manager. “After you sign up, we will send a technician out to test the connection speeds as your location. We want to make sure you have a great Internet experience, so if the wireless Internet signal is not strong enough, we don’t want to install it and have it cause frustration. But, given our town locations and the terrain, we hope to be able to serve most customers who want it.”
