February 14, 1920 – February 13, 2011

Mary Clark, 90 of Oskaloosa passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Harden Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held privately at Highland Cemetery in New Sharon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter or the Fremont Fire and Rescue.

Mary A Clark, daughter of Ike and Ione (Myers) Johnson was born on February 14, 1920 in Oskaloosa. She attended Oskaloosa High School and received her teacher’s certificate from William Penn University. Mary taught at Evans and Givens country schools before teaching at University Park Grade School. Mary married Benjamin “Benny” McMillen in 1938. To this union four children were born, David, Margaret, Virginia and Rosemary. Benny later passed away. Mary was united in marriage to Charles Clark on July 22, 1950. To this union four children were born, Charlene, Larry, Roger and Steve. Mary worked as a meat wrapper at Easters and Safeway in Oskaloosa. She also worked a Pella Corp retiring in 1982. Mary enjoyed cross stitching, canning, watching wildlife, camping and dancing. She was a member of the Oskaloosa Assembly of God Church.

Her memory is honored by her children, David (Pheobe) McMillen of Chillicothe, OH, Margaret (Ron) Mackenzie of Des Moines, Virginia Treanor of Knoxville, Rosemary Ford of Eddyville, Charlene Clark of Sigourney, Larry (Kristi) Clark, Roger (Sandy) Clark of Oskaloosa and Steve Clark of Oskaloosa; 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Ione Johnson; two husbands, Benny McMillen and Charles Clark; two brothers, an infant and William Johnson; one infant sister and a half-brother and half-sister.
