Maple Syrup Festival
From noon – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd, the Mahaska County Conservation Board will be hosting their annual Maple Syrup Festival at the Eveland Access area. Parking is available at the Eveland Access campground parking lot. Visitors will ride a hay wagon up to the “sugar shack” where MCCB staff and volunteers will explain and demonstrate how to make maple syrup. There will also be opportunities to explore the black maple sugar bush and visit a Native American sugaring camp. Bring your appetites because visitors will be able to sample homemade maple syrup drizzled over ice cream! For more information, contact the Mahaska County Conservation Board at (641)673-9327 or check out the website www.mahaskaconservation.com.
