Mahaska County Sheriff’s Reserve Recognized

The reserve unit received this award in recognition of the countless hours that they have volunteered, not only within Mahaska County but within the surrounding counties as well. Those members attending this ceremony on behalf of the reserve unit were: Posse member Dennis Dursky, Posse Member Verlan Uttermarkt, Deputy Brent DeRonde (unit President), Reserve Deputy Roger Jansen, Posse member Mike Fell, Reserve Deputy Tami Taylor, Sheriff Russ Van Renterghem, Reserve Deputy Joe Goemaat and Reserve Deputy Roger Gay.

On Thursday, September 26th, 2019, the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit was awarded the 2019 Iowa Governor’s Volunteer Award. This award was presented to members of the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and lt. Governor Adam Gregg on the campus of Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
