Lloyd A. Woodard, age 84, of Fremont, Iowa, went home to be with his personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 8, 2024, at the MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 29, 1939, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Norlan E. and Dorothy (Wey) Woodard.

Lloyd attended Hedrick High School and graduated with the Class of 1958.

After high school, he served his country in the United States National Guard.

On April 25, 1960, he was united in marriage to Charlene Hults in Lancaster, Missouri. To this union 2 children were born, Eric and Liana.

During his teenage years, Lloyd worked on road construction and helped with farming. After his marriage, he worked for Amana Refrigeration. Lastly, he went to work for John Deere and retired in 1996 after 30 years.

After retiring, he still stayed active in helping with his son’s business. Lloyd always had a strong faith and attended Calvary Baptist in Ottumwa.

In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating. Later in life he enjoyed tending to his flowers, watching television, playing cards, especially pitch, rook, and cribbage. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Eric Woodard and Liana Woodard both of Fremont, Iowa; his grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jason) Tomkins of Dover, TN; Alexis Welch of University Park and Cody Woodard of Fremont, Iowa; his great grandchildren, Lilly Stanton-Tomkins, Sam Jeanneret, Aden Welch, Nia Welch and Naomi Woodard, Serenity Woodard ; his siblings, Dorothy “D.I.” (Donnie) Demarse, Lois (Kim) Kehe, Jim Woodard and Jack (Sue) Woodard.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Charlene; his parents; and a great grandchild, Ezekiel Thorn Welch; and his siblings, Ralph Woodard, Jerry Woodard, Lawrence “Jeep” Woodard and Norlan A. “Corky” Woodard.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates
Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating.
As was his wish, Lloyd’s body will be cremated, and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to: Eric or Liana Woodard to be used for Lloyd’s burial.
