Lee Weers Promoted to Director of ITS Department at Central College

PELLA, IA (03/11/2021) Central College is pleased to announce the promotion of Lee Weers to director of Information Technology Services. Weers assumes responsibility of the department following Deb Bruxvoort’s retirement from Central in December 2020.

A long-term member of Central’s ITS Department, Weers came to the college in 2004 and served as the assistant director of network services until 2012. He then served as director of ITS Infrastructure for eight years. In his new role, Weers’ responsibilities include overseeing and setting strategic direction of the department to support the mission of the college. The department supports more than 450 employees and 1,100 students on campus.

“I am looking forward to working with senior leadership and my team to help further Central’s mission and provide a great learning environment for our students so they can continue to succeed into the future,” Weers says.

Weers received a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Iowa State University in 2000 and intends to pursue a master’s in business administration soon. In addition to his education, Weers has completed and received many information technology related certifications, including a Microsoft Certified System Engineer. Most recently, he successfully received certification as a Certified Information System Security Professional in 2020.

“Lee is and always has been committed to providing and maintaining exceptional information technology systems and services to the Central campus community,” says Tom Johnson, vice president of finance and administration. “He brings a wealth of knowledge, training, education and experience to this position, and I am confident in his ability to lead the department effectively.”
