Oskaloosa–Corey Lathram (Sr., Brentwood, Calif., Physical Education) was honored nationally for his dominating performance against Clarke last Thursday as he garnered NAIA Pitcher of the Week laurels Tuesday.

The senior’s no-hitter in a 2-0 win against the Crusaders was considered the best showing by any hurler last week. It is his first national award and the first for the Statesmen program since joining the NAIA in 2002.

Lathram only permitted two baserunners (one walk, one hit-by-pitch), while striking out seven. His no-no is his first at WPU and is the team’s first since March 9, 2012.

A closer converted into a starter the last couple weeks, Lathram is currently 4-3 with a 3.48 Earned Run Average and two saves in 41 1/3 innings. The senior, who has been a part of three shutouts, has 34 strikeouts against ten walks and opponents are hitting just .252 against him. He has not allowed a run in eight of his 15 appearances.
