Juvenile Charged With Firearm Violations

On November 4, 2019, at approximately 10:02 p.m., members of the Oskaloosa Police Department were called to the 700 block of N C St in reference to a shot fired. Initial investigation revealed that there was a small group of individuals being disorderly in the street, which escalated into a physical confrontation. The suspect, a juvenile male, then displayed a stolen firearm and fired it in the street. A residence in the 700 block of Penn Blvd was struck, and there were no injuries.

Officers later located the suspect and the firearm, and he was taken into custody without incident, and later lodged in a detention center. The juvenile suspect was charged with the following offenses:
– 3 counts of assault with a dangerous weapon
– 2 counts of discharge of a firearm within city limits
– 1 count of theft in the 4th degree
– 1 count of carrying weapons

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
