Jordan Wayne, 26, of Oskaloosa, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City surrounded by his family. Jordan was born August 17, 1996, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of John and Michelle (Trelstad) Wayne.

Despite the many challenges of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Jordan persevered in achieving his life goals. He graduated with honors from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 2015. His excellence in academics earned him a full academic scholarship from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design in 2019.

While in college, Jordan completed an internship at Simonson and Associates Architecture Firm in Des Moines. His passion for art and creativity led him to owning and operating his own small-business, Jordan Wayne Designs.

Jordan became a featured artist for the Oskaloosa Art Center and Studios, as well exhibiting many art shows for the community and surrounding areas.

Jordan was a member of the First Christian Church of Oskaloosa from a young age and enjoyed participating in many youth group activities. Jordan’s faith remained strong throughout his adult life.

Jordan loved the outdoors, especially feeling the warm sun during the summers. He enjoyed going for strolls on the bike trails, eating at restaurants, and being around friends and family. He enjoyed watching movies and shows, such as The Office, Better Call Saul, and Seinfeld.

Jordan was known to everyone who knew him as a caring, thoughtful person that was a breath of fresh air to be around. He had a contagious, optimistic outlook on life, as well as a clever sense of humor. Jordan fought the battle of DMD with courage, determination, and patience. He was truly an inspiration to all.

His family includes his parents, John and Michelle Wayne of Oskaloosa; his sister, Natalie Jordan-Anne Wayne of Oskaloosa; his maternal grandparents, Nancy and Steve Napier of Davenport; aunts and uncles: Chris Trelstad (& Kim Brokaw) of Bettendorf, Andy (& Alicia) Napier of Bushnell, Illinois, David (& Suzanne) Wayne of East Moline, Illinois, Mike (& Kendra) Wayne of Sarasota, Florida, Mary (& Harold) Fortner of Grinnell, and Tom (& Dung) Wayne of Westbrook, Maine; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Joan Wayne; and maternal grandfather, Dale Trelstad.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16, at the Bates Funeral Chapel beginning after 12:00 p.m. with Jordan’s family present from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening to greet relatives and guests. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 17, in the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa with Reverends Robert and Molly Goodrich officiating.
As was Jordan’s wish his body will be cremated following the funeral.
Burial will be held at a later date.
