Jeffrey Groenenboom, 50, of Oskaloosa passed away Wednesday evening, May 21, 2014, at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa.

Jeffrey Lee Groenenboom, son of Wilbur and Henrietta (Aalsburg) Groenenboom, was born March 26, 1964, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Jeff received his education through the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella and subsequently worked for the Christian Opportunity Center in Oskaloosa. Over the years, Jeff benefited greatly from C.O.C. and Imagine the Possibilities, enabling him to work for William Penn University Food Service and Wendy’s Restaurant.

Jeff was a member of the Lacey United Methodist Church and recently attended Central United Methodist Church.

Jeff participated in Special Olympics in swimming and bowling for many years. He enjoyed Wednesday night races in Oskaloosa, the Southern Iowa Fair, the Iowa State Fair, Oskaloosa High School and Wm. Penn University football and visiting with friends at Smokey Row.

Jeff’s family includes his mother, Henrietta Groenenboom of Oskaloosa; a brother, John (Karla) Groenenboom of Mesa, AZ; sisters, Joyce (Raymond) Smith of St. Louis, MO and Phyllis Clark of Brandon, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his father, Jeff was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Mike Clark.

Funeral services for Jeff will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Central United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Boomershine officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at Noon, Monday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be at the funeral chapel from 2-4 p.m. to greet visitors.
Memorials may be made to Imagine the Possibilities.
