Jacquie Mick, 93, of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab Center in Oskaloosa. Jacquelyn Rae Mick, daughter of Lester and LaVerne Warwick Elkin, was born November 7, 1929, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Jacquie was a 1947 Oskaloosa High School graduate, crowned queen of her senior prom.

While she was in high school, she worked at Bon Ton Bakery.

Jacquie married Charles Mick on September 2, 1950, in Oskaloosa. To this union a son, Randy, was born.

They lived in rural Oskaloosa and, in 1963, moved to their home on Highway 163, west of Oskaloosa.

In April of 1957, Jacquie was chosen queen among three women candidates for a dance sponsored by Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Voting was done by purchasing tickets, and all proceeds were donated to the fight against cancer.

Jacquie was an avid sports fan and participated in bowling, tennis, ice skating, softball, and golf. She won first-flight golfing several times at Elmhurst Country Club and in city tournaments. She and her husband enjoyed dancing and won the dance contest at the country club as well. She vacationed with her family for 40 years, boating and fishing in Minnesota. Later they spent 20 winters at their home in Winter Haven, FL. They turned their farm over to their son, Randy, in 2000 when they moved into Oskaloosa.

Jacquie was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 72 years, Charles Mick, of Oskaloosa; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Diane Mick of Oskaloosa; two step-grandsons: Dustin and Vince Hargrave; three step-great-grandchildren; a beloved brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Cathie Elkin of Cumming, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Langkamp Funeral Chapel for Chuck and Jacquie on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastors Robert and Molly Goodrich of the First Christian Church officiating.
As was her wish, her body has been cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.

Langkamp Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with Jacquie’s final arrangements.
