Iowa Transportation Commission approves additional highway work
AMES, Iowa – Feb. 8, 2011 – Today, at their meeting in Ames, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved an amendment to the 2011-2015 Iowa Transportation Improvement Program (Program) that will advance the letting of some highway projects into fiscal year (FY) 2011 and add others to the program.
The amendment advanced the following three highway bridge projects and one interstate stewardship project to FY 2011, with construction on these projects expected to commence this calendar year.
- Iowa 187 bridge replacement over the Maquoketa River in Fayette County
- Iowa 25 bridge replacement over Mason Creek in Guthrie County
- Iowa 175 bridge replacement over a stream east of Arthur in Ida County
- Interstate 35 pavement rehabilitation in Clarke County from U.S. 34 to Warren County (southbound).
In addition, the following 14 new projects that involve investments in non-interstate pavement preservation and safety were added to the program in FY 2011, with construction on these projects expected to begin this calendar year.
- Iowa 14 in Butler County from Iowa 3 to Floyd County
- Iowa 130 in Cedar County from Tipton to Scott County
- U.S. 30 in Clinton County from County Road Z-24 to U.S. 67 (westbound)
- U.S. 63 in Davis County from Missouri to Iowa 2
- Iowa 14 in Floyd County from Greene to Charles City
- Iowa 25 in Guthrie County from Iowa 141 to County Road E-63
- Iowa 141 in Guthrie County from Coon Rapids to Iowa 4
- Iowa 38 in Jones County from Olin to Iowa 64
- U.S. 61 in Lee County from Keokuk to Fort Madison
- U.S. 61 in Lee County from Fort Madison to Burlington
- Iowa 2 in Ringgold County from Iowa 25 to Mount Ayr
- U.S. 18 in Sioux County from Lyon County to Rock Valley
- U.S. 218 in Washington County from approximately 240th Street to 160th Street (southbound)
- Iowa 376 in Woodbury County from I-29 to Glenn Avenue in Sioux City
Changes to the Transportation Improvement Program were possible because of additional funding that was made available after the program was approved in June and amended in October. The additional funding is available due to favorable construction project lettings and Iowa Department of Transportation budget savings.
