Ibrahim Wins Oskaloosa 4th Ward Seat
Oskaloosa, Iowa – In a notable local election, the residents of Oskaloosa’s 4th Ward have spoken, electing newcomer Abu Ibrahim to represent them, with a significant majority. The election, held on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, with voting taking place at the historic old YMCA building on 414 North 3rd Street, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.After stepping into the political arena for the first time, Abu Ibrahim secured his seat by an overwhelming margin, receiving 165 votes against his opponent Jimmy Carter, who garnered 27 votes. This election was organized to fill the vacancy left by Steve Burnett, who resigned after moving away from the community. Ibrahim will serve for the remaining term, with the official certification of the vote expected at the next Mahaska County Supervisors meeting.
