Happy 20th Year to the Daily Youth Theatre

OSKALOOSA, IA—New adventures begin in 2019 with the 20th year of Youth Theatre at the George Daily Auditorium! Join a quest, create legendary Olympians, be the star of a Cabaret, and the Elementary School play returns!

The 2019 after-school season has all new sessions ready get imaginations piqued. Starting off is the return of Missoula Children’s Theatre with King Arthur’s Quest! Join King Arthur as he faces many challenges and even parlays with a dragon! King Arthur’s Quest will feature 60 local children between the ages of 5-18 for two performances at the end of a week filled with rehearsals. Auditions will be January 14th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and audition forms will be available at schools, online, and at the Auditorium. Catch the show on January 19th at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Registration is free!

Next up is an all new camp filled with legends of its own, The New Olympians! Between January 29th – March 8th, campers have the chance to build a new pantheon of Greek Olympians. Students will create their own myths and legends to showcase at the end of the session. Grades K-5 will meet Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Grades 6-8 will meet Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Registration is $60.

For the first time in after-school session history, the George Daily Music Studio takes center stage with a Music Studio Cabaret! This session runs between March 11th – April 19th and features weekly lessons at a discounted rate with a more individualized schedule. Music Education Director, Allison McGuire, will lead the session. Campers will work towards a cabaret style showcase where they’ll perform their own solo or ensemble number. This session is available for Grades 6-12 for $80.

Returning for its second year, the George Daily Youth Theatre partnered with the Oskaloosa Community School District for the Elementary School Play! This is a 45-60-minute musical production just for students in Kindergarten-5th grade. Auditions will be on March 4th at 3:30 p.m. at the Auditorium. After auditions, a rehearsal schedule will go out, and the next seven weeks will be spent putting together the production. This session runs from March 11th- April 26th. Registration is $80.

Discounts are available for families with multiple campers. Financial aid is also available and should be discussed on a case-by-case basis with the Education Director.
