Half Dozen Honored as Academic All-District

 

Oskaloosa–Six members of the William Penn women’s soccer team were recognized for superb contributions on and off the field as the College Sports Communicators academic all-district women’s soccer teams were announced recently.

Madeline Danielson (So., La Crescent, Minn., Exercise Science) leads the group with a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average. Abi Moers (Jr., Evergreen, Colo., Psychology and Human Services) is next with a 3.86 GPA, while Kaitlin Falaney (Sr., Ottawa, Ill., Sports Management) has a 3.81 GPA.

Graisy Greener (Sr., Ogden, Utah, Sociology) and Lacie Kirkle (So., Altoona, Iowa, Undecided) each have 3.70 GPAs, while Taylor Witthauer (Jr., Vancouver, Wash., Nursing) owns a 3.56 GPA.

The award from CSC (formally College Sports Information Directors of America) recognizes athletes for their performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic all-district honorees advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

Danielson was 3-9 this fall with a 2.66 Goals Against Average; she also tallied 65 saves and posted three shutouts.

Moers played in 15 games (11 starts) with one assist, while Falaney scored four times in 10 games (8 starts). Greener managed an assist as she started in all 14 games in which she played, while Kirkle started in five of her 15 games. Witthauer paced the offense with four goals and five assists in 12 games (11 starts).

To be eligible for the award, athletes must own a 3.50 GPA, be a starter or important reserve player, attend the nominating institution for at least one year, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
