Free Rides this Summer

Did you know that you can get a free ride to 15 different locations here in Oskaloosa on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday? We’re talking about the Oskaloosa Rides. This is a vital system ran by the town to help everyone get around this Summer. Get out of the heat or the rain and get where you need to go fast.

“Summer is a time for fun and friends, and the city busses are a safe way for children to get the places they need,” said Julie Hyland, staff member at United Way of Mahaska County. “It’s even great for older people who cannot drive anymore, helping them get out every once and awhile.”

Timothy Gibson, the Executive Director at United Way, also put in a good word for the bus system in our community.

“There are so many great opportunities that Oskaloosa Rides has brought to our town. We have bus schedules available at our office and we are happy to help you figure out how to get to your destination.”

Oskaloosa Rides are in service Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00 Am to 5:30 PM. The bus stops at each location about once every hour. As many know, it used to cost to ride the bus here in town, but now the city has funded the program and it is 100% free, all year round.

Bus stops are located at many of the most needed places here in town. Some include grocery stores, like HyVee and Walmart, all the schools in town, the YMCA, Mahaska Health Partnership , Oskaloosa Public Library, Edmundson Park, and many apartments around Oskaloosa.

We hope you will take advantage of this great resource in our Community!
