Five Individuals Charged Resulting From Burglary Investigation

On Sunday September 9th, 2018, the Oskaloosa Police Department took a report of a burglary to VanWall Equipment located at 1401 South 17th Street in Oskaloosa. It was determined that a total of nearly $17,000.00 worth of items was taken from the business and a truck was stolen. During an investigation, arrests were made on several subjects in connection with the incident.

The following is a list of charges authorized by the Mahaska County Attorney’s Office:

David Wayne Dobson, 35, of Oskaloosa was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd degree and two counts of Theft 1st degree.

Jesse Robert Parkin, 39, of Oskaloosa was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd degree and two counts of Theft 1st degree.

Sarah Elizabeth Merchant, 31, of Oskaloosa, Jeremy Alan Merchant, 35, of Oskaloosa and Jesse James Burtlow, 25, of Oskaloosa and Ottumwa all were arrested and charged with Theft 1st degree (Possession of stolen property).

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the subject is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
