Ellen Maxine Linderman

Oskaloosa. Ellen Maxine Linderman, 93, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, January 2, 2011, at her granddaughter’s home in Lacona, Iowa. She was born December 15, 1917, at Lockman, in Monroe County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Esther Ostring Selby. She attended school at Lockman. On November 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Milton Jeremiah Linderman, at Lancaster, Missouri, and he died on June 20, 1978. Early on she did cleaning work at the Eddyville High School for eight years. She later worked cleaning people’s homes, mostly in the Eddyville area, but also cleaned some in Albia, Oskaloosa, and Ottumwa. Ellen was well known for her crafts. She did rug weaving on her loom, and was a very talented painter and quilter. Ellen also enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and was always very proud of the violets she could raise.

She is survived by her son: James (& Sherry) Linderman of Cedar; a daughter: Elaine Linderman of Eldon; a daughter in law: Patty Linderman of Osceola; seven grandchildren: Richard and Lisa Linderman, Steve Linderman, JJ and Dana Linderman, Elaine Anderson, Stacy and Charles Davis, Amanda Linderman and Clayton Colon, and Jennifer Kauffman; two step grandchildren: Debbie and Terry; nine great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; two sisters: Clover Robbins of Oskaloosa, and Joyce Quigley of Washington, Iowa; a sister in law: Shirley Robbins of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Gary Linderman; four brothers: Lloyd, Homer, Robert, and Donald Selby; a sister: Huldra Weaver; and three brothers in law: James Weaver, Keith Robbins, and Glen Quigley.

Funeral services for Ellen Linderman will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Jeff O’Rourke officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Eddyville. Visitation will begin Tuesday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel, and the family will be at the funeral chapel Tuesday evening from 5 –7 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Ellen Linderman Memorial Fund.
