Liz Ellis, 91, of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at Mahaska Health in Oskaloosa. Elizabeth Ann Ellis, daughter of Harold George and Frances Willard (Hales) Ellsworth, was born July 1, 1932, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Liz’s father was a Presbyterian minister, which required frequent moves for the family. They lived in several states, including Washington, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota.

Liz was a 1950 graduate of Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis and then attended Bryan College in Dayton, TN, for two years, where she studied music. She later transferred to William Penn College in Oskaloosa, graduating in 1957.

It was at Wm. Penn that she met her future husband, Bob, and they were married on June 22, 1959, in Sully, Iowa.

Liz was a stay-at-home mom raising their two children and later provided in-home daycare for six years.

Liz used her musical gifts to play the organ at her church, Fellowship Bible Church, and often played for weddings and funerals. In addition to enjoying music, Liz was an avid reader and solver of crossword puzzles.

Liz’s family includes her children: Deborah Ellis of Wheaton, IL, and Jeffrey Ellis of Vista, CA.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bob, on September 26, 2021.

Funeral services for Liz will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rodney DeRonde officiating.
Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, August 16, with the family present from 4-6 p.m.
Burial will be at the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
