OSKALOOSA, IA — Are you a survivor, or will you eat brains? Zombies are the theme of this year’s final after school theatre camp at the George Daily Auditorium. The 4-week long program for students in kindergarten through 8th grade starts Monday, March 30th and focuses on fiction’s most famous undead foes in an age-appropriate setting.

“For the first time, there will be a script by a professional playwright onstage with the Youth Theatre,” says Andy McGuire, Youth Director. “All groups will be working with theme of zombies, but the 6th-8th grade campers will be performing ‘10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse’ by Don Zolidis.”

Different groups will meet at different times throughout the week. Mondays & Tuesdays are the Stage Apprentices group, 3-5th graders who meet from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. They will be creating a series of zombie movie trailers. Kindergarteners through 2nd grade will meet every Wednesday for Stage Playground from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. and they will create a public service announcement on how to properly identify and categorize zombies. Campers in 6th-8th grade will meet Thursdays & Fridays for Stage Performers. All groups will perform in a free public showcase on Friday, May 1.

“Every camper should wear shoes that enclose the toe and heel, like tennis shoes,” added McGuire. Snacks and a water bottle are also recommended.

Registration and payment will be accepted until the first day of camp. If you would like to discuss need-based financial aid or alternate payment plans, those options are available. Please contact the Youth Director Andy McGuire at 641-672-3795 or youth@georgedaily.org. Registration forms can be picked up at the George Daily Auditorium office, in Oskaloosa’s schools, or online at www.georgedaily.org under the After School Program tab.
