May 10, 1942 – November 9, 2023
Ava, Missouri | Age 81

Connie Marie Allsup, 81 years, 5 months, 29 days old, of Ava, Missouri (formerly of Oskaloosa, Iowa), passed away peacefully to her home in Heaven on November 9, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by her family. She had just finished fighting Ovarian Cancer. Connie was born at home in rural Beacon on May 10, 1942, to her parents, Melvin O. and June B. (Olivier) Silvers.

Connie attended school in Beacon through the eighth grade, then attended high school and graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High with the class of 1960. She was in the first class to graduate from the new, and current high school.

Connie met the love of her life when she was chaperoning her younger sister, Carol, on a date. Her sister’s date, Bill, had a friend with him, who ended up being Robert “Bob” Allsup. When the girls came out of the house and started down the steps, Bob told Bill, “That’s the one, no other.”

Robert had enlisted in the Army, so he and Connie wrote back and forth for three years while he was gone serving his country. He was honorably discharged from the Army in the late Spring of 1962.

On August 26, 1962, Connie Marie and Robert LeRoy were married in the original Beacon Methodist Church. To this union, two children were born, Adrian in 1963 and Ginger in 1966.

While Robert was in the service, Connie moved to Des Moines and became a nurses aide at Methodist Hospital. She then moved back to Oskaloosa and worked at the Mahaska County Hospital for several years. After taking a couple of years off before her children started school, she went to work at Rolscreen (Pella Corporation) for about 27 years, retiring in 1999. In 2003, Connie and Bob retired to Ava, Missouri.

Connie loved reading Western novels, playing Solitaire on her laptop, Chocolate malts from DQ (Dairy Queen), hot Ovaltine, mowing the yard (as long as it was a riding mower), and trying to keep Bob in line. And if you were a Schwann’s man and scratched your back on the corner of her wall she would kindly tell you to not come back.

Connie was a great cook. There were hotdog nights, but some of her family’s favorites were her Homemade pizza, chili, soup beans and cornbread, roast, potato, and carrots in the crockpot, polish sausage, sauerkraut, and potatoes in the pressure cooker, Reuben sandwiches, meatloaf, biscuits and gravy, her chocolate chip cookies, and her fudge.

Connie was a Christian and was a member of the Home of Hope First Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa, Iowa, for 29 years. When they moved to Ava, they transferred their membership to the Highway Church of the Nazarene and, finally, to the Cold Creek Cowboy Church north of Ava.

Connie loved her church and everyone there; she considered all of them her friends. She felt truly blessed to have them in her life. Connie loved to be involved. Just a few of the things she was involved in included: Sunday morning services and the visiting that followed, Celebrate America – a 4th of July celebration at the Highway Church, Home Group – Bible study, having friends over for food, conversation, and a game of dominoes, and, of course, her ladies’ groups – better known as her Posses.

Connie’s family loved her unconditionally and miss her greatly. They are thankful for each and every one of you.

Her family includes her husband, Bob, of 61 years, 2 months, 2 weeks; her son, Adrian (& Sharon Willen) Allsup of Ava, Mo; her daughter, Ginger (& Ken) Allsup of Oskaloosa, IA; 4 Grandchildren: Brandon (& Cori Ash) Allsup of Osage Beach, MO, Andrea (& James) Cantwell of Mack’s Creek, MO, Riley (& Jennifer Watters) Calhoun of Oskaloosa, IA, and Candace (& Kyle) Flattery of Albia, IA; 7 Great Grandchildren: Taylor and Ryder Cantwell, October, Shiloh and Anakin Allsup, Hannah and Maeleigh Flattery; a Sister, Nancy Kaywood of Ashland, MO; a Brother, Dennis Silvers of Burnsville, MN; a Brother-in-law, Henry Schuring of Leighton, IA; Nieces and Nephews: Jeff (& Wendy) Gordy, Steve Gordy, Cathy (& Ed) Veldhuizen, Mike (& Joni) Dykstra, David (& Pam) Dykstra, and Serenity (& Shane McCarron) Silvers; 21 Great Nieces and Nephews and 9 spouses; 11 Great Great nieces and nephews, with another on the way; along with many friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Melvin and June; a Sister, Carol Schuring (2023); a Nephew, Chad Silvers (2023); a Brother-in-law, George Kaywood; Maternal Grandparents: Cornelius Herman Olivier and Maria Aletta (Brandenhorst) Olivier Furneau; step-grandfather, Herman Edward Ferneau; Fraternal Grandparents, Herman Austin and Ina Mae (Lundy) Silvers; Maternal Aunts and Uncles: Rose (& Dean) Graves, Norma (& Dick) Bernstein, and Lucille (& Don) Taft; Fraternal Aunts and Uncles: V.
