City Council Approves Road Projects

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa City Council met in regular session on Monday, August 5th, 2019, inside the Council Chambers of Oskaloosa City Hall, at 6:00 pm.

The Council approved Resolution 19-08-101 for an agreement with Garden & Associates for engineering services for pavement improvements on South 7th Street and Meadow Creek Subdivision.

The South 7th Street improvements would be between 9th Avenue and 15th Avenue.

At Meadow Creek Subdivision, the public streets to see work would include West Glendale Road, Caldwell Place, and McMullin Drive.

The contract amount with Garden & Associates for this contract would not exceed $242,600.00 to complete the engineering design for the total project outlined. Broken down even further, $114,000.00 would be services associated with South 7th Street, while $128,600.00 would be for the Meadow Creek Subdivision.

The projects were discussed during the budget meetings held earlier in the year.

The design and construction could take from six months to a year on the outlined construction. The Council could make a decision on bonding to complete more of South 7th, which would impact the tax rate for city residents.

The Council then went into closed session to discuss legal matters.

The next scheduled meeting of the Oskaloosa City Council is August 19th, 2019, at 6 pm inside the Council Chambers of Oskaloosa City Hall.
